China's Jinjiang to host four consecutive sessions of FISU University World Cup

ijjnews.com, Feb. 3 -- Jinjiang, a city of southeast China's Fujian Province will host four consecutive sessions of FISU University World Cup from 2019 to 2025, according to FISU on February 2. The first session is planned to be held from October to November, 2019.

The news was announced on FISU University World Cup Press Conference held in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing.Oleg Matytsin, president of FISU, Tian Xuejun, vice minister of the Ministry of Education, Yang Xianjin, vice governor of Fujian Province, and officials from Quanzhou and Jinjiang including Zhang Yongning, Liu Wenru, Zhang Wenxian, Lin Huiling, Wang Haifei and Lin Yue, attended the press conference.

Oleg Matytsin said in his speech that qualification trials of FISU University World Cup will be held in five continents in 2018, which means, hundreds of universities and millions of students will engage in the competition. The competition will generate the best university football teams in the world, and these teams will fight for the final match in Jinjiang. The FISU University World Cup will be one of the best university sports events. He was confident that FISU University World Cup will serve the development of China and Jinjiang in a better way. Meanwhile, the sports event will enhance university sports to a new level.

According to Tian Xuejun, FISU University World Cup, a top football competition event in the world, will be held in Jinjiang for four consecutive times in eight years. It is another gratifying achievement of China's School sports besides the host of the 18th World Middle School Games in 2020 in Jinjiang. Recent years, China has not only successfully held world-class large international events, such as the Olympic Games, but also hosted World University Games, World and Asian University Individual Championship and other sports events organized by FISU, and has accumulated abundant experience of hosting sports events. China boasts sound social environment, facilities and popular support, which can ensure the smooth holding of all the FISU sports events. Jinjiang will keep improving all relevant works to deliver wonderful football events to the world.

Liu Wenru, secretary of Jinjiang municipal party, promised that Jinjiang will strictly follow the requirements of FISU events, make full use of every minute, work hard in making preparations under the specific guidance of superior departments. Jinjiang has confidence and determination to deliver FISU University World Cup as the most influential and most characteristic top university football match in the world.

FISU University World Cup, created by FISU in 2017, is an important world top university football competition event. From 2020, it will be the only world university football competition event. This event is held every two years, including qualification match and global finals. In the qualification match, all the countries and regions take part in the match in respective administrative regions, and then representative teams are generated. Next, all teams will be divided into Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania, and then continental matches are organized. Finally, each continental competition area selects teams based on quota, and these teams participate in global finals with wild card teams. It is estimated that there will be about 800 players, including 16 male teams and 8 female teams, participating the global finals.

Approved by FISU executive committee, Jinjiang won the bid to host four consecutive sessions, namely those in 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2015, and won the priority right to host the event from 2027 to 2031 for three sessions. In addition, approved by AUSF executing committee, Jinjiang will host four sessions of AUSF Football Cup in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, and 2018 AUSF Football Cup China Qualification.

After communicating with the Work Leading Group Office of China Youth Campus Football and FUSC (Federation of University Sports of China) and consulting opinions of FISU and AUSF, AUSF Football Cup China Qualification is planned to be held from August 16 to 26 (11 days), 2018; AUSF Football Cup is planned to be held from October 29 to November 11 (14 days), 2018; and the first session of FISU University World Cup is planned to be held from October to November in 2019.
